Manager, Business Development

Reporting directly to the Vice President, Asset Development, this position is a key senior role responsible for building and expanding the long-term sustainable development strategy for Rife. Specifically, this includes building and executing an enhanced oil recovery strategy for Rife in Lloydminster, taking the lead role in growth related activities, and driving the greenhouse gas strategy for Rife.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership to maintain and enhance Rife’s position as a top class, dividend-paying company, across all business cycles
  • Develop and hone long term sustainability & growth strategy for Rife including:
    • Develop and implement an enhanced oil recovery plan (thermal, polymer, CO2 etc.)
    • Lead and drive acquisition and divestiture activities and strategy
    • Build a long-term greenhouse gas reduction strategy incorporating field operations, acquisition/divestiture/joint venture ideas and enhanced oil recovery potential
  • Collaborate along-side a highly skilled and focused Asset Development team to plan and execute an annual budget as well as manage production of our Lloyd assets
  • Consistently and diligently work to innovate new ideas, tighten forecasts, reconcile discrepancies and reduce operating costs each and every day
  • Demonstrate and consistently apply the highest level of best practices in Environmental, Health and Safety standards, practices and policies

Requirements Characteristic, Attributes and Skills:

  • Successful history of implementing enhanced heavy oil recovery schemes
  • Direct experience working Lloydminster area heavy oil properties
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Advanced computer skills and an expert in Excel
  • Experience with a business intelligence software (Power BI, Spotfire etc.)
  • Relevant technical awareness in the areas of reservoir engineering, well completions, and well optimization
  • Ability to merge technical decisions with financial performance
  • Strong work ethic and self-starter. Ability to effectively set priorities and collaborate in the achievement of company/team goals
  • Demonstrate leadership and project management skills while multitasking in a fast paced, multi-disciplined, and highly skilled environment

Qualifications:

  • Petroleum Engineering Degree (or equivalent Mechanical or Chemical Engineering degree) and APEGA PEng designation
  • Previous leadership background with significant experience in Canadian Oil and Gas Exploitation, Production and/or Facilities
