Facilities Engineer (contract)

Reporting to the Manager, Production, this contract role (to December 31, 2021) is responsible for the identification, scoping, development and execution of fit for purpose facility projects, predominantly in conventional heavy oil. 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Support the production operations team in the identification, planning and execution of optimization and MOC projects
  • Liaise and build strong relationships with the various stakeholder groups including production, asset development, land and safety
  • Ensure the proper cross-functional and subject matter experts are involved in the early stages of the planning process
  • Proactively manage the deliverables from external service providers (ie EPCM)
  • Provide reporting on key performance indicators including project status, cost projections and schedule
  • Ensure all reporting data is current and complete
  • Ensure all corporate policies and expectations are met
  • Identify process improvement opportunities
  • Facilitate and participate in look backs

Candidate Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (P.Eng.) or equivalent with current APEGA and/or APEGS registration
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in oil and gas upstream facilities, preference for conventional heavy oil
  • Possess working knowledge of regulatory standards and industry best practices in Alberta and Saskatchewan
  • Demonstrated the ability to think strategically about team and company direction, performance and continuous improvement

Position Requirements:

  • Proven project management and technical skills associated with the planning, design and construction of oil and gas pipelines and facilities in Western Canada
  • Credible experience prioritizing, managing and executing a variety of small projects and optimizations
  • Strong technical background
  • Possess working knowledge of regulatory standards and industry best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret complex business documents
  • Strong interpersonal skills and problem solving ability
  • Excellent verbal/written communication including presentation
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to Safety, Health, and Environment
  • Able to travel to operating assets in Saskatchewan and Alberta, typically Lloydminster
