Clifton Isings, Chair of the Board, is Chief Investment Officer and Vice-President, CN Investment Division, which manages one of the largest corporate pension funds in Canada. His responsibilities include public equities, real assets, liability hedging assets, and risk management. He joined the Division in 1994 and was previously Manager, International Equities. He is currently a member of the Investment Committee of the Canadian Olympics, as well as a member of the McGill University Pension Investment Committee.
Peter T. Harrison, Vice Chair, recently retired from the position of Manager, Resource and Royalties, of the CN Investment Division (Montreal), which manages one of the largest corporate pension funds in Canada. Prior to joining the CN Investment Division in August 2009, he was Senior Vice-President of Montrusco Bolton Investments Inc. He is a director of Canpar Holdings Ltd., and Freehold Royalties Ltd. Mr. Harrison has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McGill University, an MBA from the University of Western Ontario and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
Mathieu M. Roy, Vice Chair, is Portfolio Manager, Resource and Royalties, of the CN Investment Division (Montreal), which manages one of the largest corporate pension funds in Canada. He has 20 years of experience in capital markets including more than 12 years at CN Investment Division, which he re-joined in September 2020. Mr. Roy has a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in finance from the University of Sherbrooke and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
Carrie A. Chase, Director, is Chief Marketing Officer at Alden Group Renewables LLC. Ms. Chase is accountable for the corporation’s commercial governance and oversight, including commercial risk management, trading and marketing. Her diverse career includes holding key executive and trading positions in energy; and she holds advisory positions in ESG, biofuel and the renewables sector. Ms. Chase has over 20 years of experience in the energy industry. She is an existing Board member of Texadian Energy Canada Limited (wholly owned by Par Petroleum LLC). She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Calgary.
Marlene K. Puffer, Director, is President and Chief Executive Officer of the CN Investment Division. Dr. Puffer is accountable for all aspects of the investment management and organizational oversight of the CN Pension Trust Funds, one of the largest corporate pension funds in Canada. She is former vice-chair of the Board of the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) and past president of Women in Capital Markets. Marlene holds a Ph.D. in Finance and Applied Statistics and a M.Sc. in Business Administration from the Simon Business School at the University of Rochester, and master’s and bachelor’s degrees in Economics from the University of Toronto. She holds a CFA charter and the ICD.D designation granted by the Institute of Corporate Directors.
William J.F. Roach, Director, is an experienced energy industry executive who has extensive experience of public and privately-owned companies in both Canada and the US. He is currently a director of Cavalier Energy Inc. and has been its President and Chief Executive Officer since 2012 and is a Director of Calera Corporation and was formerly the President and Chief Executive Officer. Dr. Roach is a Professional Engineer and holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Physical Metallurgy and a Bachelor of Science degree, both from the University College Swansea, Wales.
David J. Sandmeyer Director, and former President & Chief Executive Officer of Rife Resources Ltd. until his retirement in May 2009. Prior to joining Rife in 1982, he held senior positions with Amoco Canada Petroleum Company Ltd. He is a director of Canpar Holdings Ltd. He is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA).
David M. Spyker, Director, is President and Chief Executive Officer of Rife Resources Ltd. He served as Interim President and Chief Executive Officer from September 2020 to January 2021. Mr. Spyker joined Rife in November 2016 as Vice-President, Production and was appointed Chief Operating Officer in March 2019. Prior to, he held various roles at Anderson Exploration Ltd., Anderson Energy Ltd., and Anderson Energy Inc. Mr. Spyker has over 30 years of industry experience. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alberta and is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA).
