Canpar is registered to carry on business in the provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The head, principal and registered office of Canpar Holdings Ltd. is located at Suite 400, 144 - 4th Avenue S.W., Calgary, Alberta, T2P 3N4. Canpar is owned 100% by the CN Pension Trust Funds.
Canpar is a royalty holding company with an extensive portfolio of both producing and undeveloped mineral title lands. Canpar's operations are managed by Rife Resources Ltd.
In 1979, the CN Pension Trust Funds and Dome Petroleum jointly purchased all of the shares of Siebens Oil and Gas. The acquisition included a portion of the mineral title interests that can be traced back to the original lands granted to the Hudson's Bay Company by Charles II, King of England, in 1670.
In 1996, Canpar sold most of its producing royalty interests to Freehold Royalty Trust (a publicly traded oil and gas trust), retaining an extensive portfolio of undeveloped mineral title lands.
Today, Canpar has production of approximately 2,500 boe per day and owns royalty interests in approximately 3.8 million gross acres of land in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, including the exclusive right, in perpetuity, to all recoverable oil, natural gas and potash resources underlying approximately 2.2 million gross acres. These interests are leased out to third parties, who continue to develop the lands. In 2008, Canpar received royalty income from more than 3,000 producing oil and gas wells throughout western Canada.
